Iraq war's 4,000 fallen
A look at the lives of U.S. soldiers who lost their lives in Iraq.
This was one of headlines on the front page of Yahoo today. It really got me thinking about something. War is a terrible things, no one wants it but even in the Bible God sent his children out to fight for what was right and to free HIS people from oppression.
But to my point. What it really got me thinking about is in the upcoming election. If the new president does not continue the war it would be almost like saying "4,000+ soldiers are wrong, they are misguided and they died in vain fighting for a cause that we don't support" It's an insult to their families, to the military ect. As terrible as the number 4000 is, even if many of them were just doing their job, they were fighting to protect the country they love. None of us want our loved on to die, I have to admit that I'm a little selfish and thankful my dad has not yet had to go over. But I know some of my blog readers have had to let their loved ones go over. And pray to God every night to keep them safe until they came back home. Please, I hope you understand If he has to go, I won't stand in the way. In no way do I want to seem superior to those who have had to let them go to Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan.
Since we are turning the tables, America is winning the war. In memorial to those who have fallen, Husbands, Dads, Brothers, Sons, Sisters, Comrades, Nephews, Nieces, Daughters, Wives. It goes on and on. Could we not continue on for them? In rememberance of their sacrifice until they ALL come home in victory.

Bess, you are extremely insightful for someone so young. You have made valid points that so many adults have yet to see. We need to know that those lives were not lost in vain. Just as we know that Christ's sacrifice on the cross for US was not in vain, if only we choose to believe in Him; so must we choose to believe that those lives sacrificed in Iraq and Afghanistan are not in vain. And because of people like you, those lives will be remembered long after the war has ceased.
Like you, I am blessed that my soldier husband has yet to go "over there"...and I keep counting my blessings as his unit/division gets pushed back and back...that we might escape our post here without a deployment looming. And I fear what will happen when a new president is elected. Though so many hate Bush's "stay the course" proclamation, it really is the only way now. Even if tomorrow, they started to pull every soul out of there, it would still take a long time, and defeat the very purpose of our soldiers there.
Amen to this post, Bess.
Thank you Miss. Linda. I was not sure when I wrote this if my point that I was meaning to get across would get across. I took some small "rabbit trails"
Excellent points!
Not to seem like I'm belittling the value of life, but have they mentioned how many terrorists we've taken care of?
It's funny, but America's attention span on war has never been very long.
Thanks Jamin! Yea, they never talk about how many terrroist we have taken care of. My cousin also pointed out that she saw a picture of some of our soldiers playing with some small children. Pushing them on swings, just having a great time. But NO, we could never put THAT in the newspaper!
